Briere Signs with Montreal

The Danny Briere sweepstakes can finally end. After being bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers, Briere signed with the Montreal Canadiens to a two-year contract worth $8 million. He will earn $4 million per season.

The 35-year old is coming off a terrible season with the Flyers, where he scored only 6 goals and 10 assists in 34 games. Briere is as injury-prone as they come, which is why I question the amount of money that the Canadiens are giving to him. Don’t get me wrong, Briere can still be valuable if he’s healthy, but he’s not worth $4 million per season.

Don’t be surprised to see Canadiens fans wishing they had a third compliance buyout to use on him next off-season.
